Lurcher’s Crag

P1010899

A lot of snow in the mountains still – although a very mild day yesterday with the freezing level way above the tops.

A busy day on the crag – but a good safe choice as northerly aspects would have large, soggy, droopy cornices on them. We opted for an icy line (RH ice fall??)  to the left of North Gully as two teams were already climbing on it when we arrived. Gave a grade III ice pitch then grade II to the top. The ice was good higher up but a bit sloppy lower down. A team (Paul from Wasdale MRC and friend) traversed out of North Gully as they said the ice was poor and finished up our line.

We were in the “white room” for most of the day with a brief interlude when we got a great view over the Larig Ghru over to Braerieach.
