Cracking day yesterday on Ardverike Wall. We cycled in and I climbed with Gayle and Paul, while John climbed with Phil and Brian. Ardverikie Wall is probably the best severe in Scotland – six pitches of immaculate micro-granite with amazing holds made of pockets, cracks and “chicken heads”.
We avoided the showers all day – I think we were the only dry place in Scotland. We were the only teams on the route -did the weather forecast put everyone else off?
A classic day on a classic climb.
Lucky indeed. I was climbing Stob Ban in the Grey Corries and we had quite a few showers. Nice sunshine in-between though.
Not luck – careful planning 🙂
many years ago Eddie Waltham and I climbed what may have been a new route starting to the right of Ardverickie and heading more or less hard left to the top of the crag.I remember lack of protection and mossy but sound rock.Probably sustained 4c
Did not bother to try and record it and has probably been repeated many times this would have been around 1986.
