RSPB Hill Safety Courses

Pentland Hills

I’ve been working with the RSPB Scotland this spring running hill/remote area safety courses for them. Field workers are running surveys in remote areas where wind farms are active to assess the impact of the turbines on bird life. I ran courses for Jacob, Michael and Chris – we spent a few hours first looking at route planning, risk assessments and the hazards of solo (and group) working in remote areas, and also looking at how the weather can affect you working in upland areas. Being based in Edinburgh, we then headed up to the Pentland Hills to undergo some navigation training and put some of the things we talked about it action.

Good luck to Jacob, Michael and Chris on your surveys!
