(Make Your Own) Ledge Route

Davy leading off on 2nd pitch Simon at the top

Simon and I ventured out on Saturday for a bit of pre-dinner climbing on Fascadale Buttress in Ardnamurchan. We combined a few areas of rocky slabs to (probably) climb a new two-pitch route at about severe. Some areas of loose rock – Simon at one point had to trundle some rocks to make a ledge to stand on – hence “Make Your Own Ledge Route”.

Interested in climbing in Ardnamurchan? Guided rock climbing trips are available along with self-catering accommodation – email me for more information.

Frith back again to get the photo right! Frith, Andrew and Lancs

Jame, Frith, Darren and I met at Sligachan via the Lagan Wolf Trax (to loose some skin before we embarked) for a weekend of epic mountain biking fun on Skye. The route started at Sligachan then south to Camasunary, then east over to meet up with the Elgol road before heading back north via Strathmore.

The route gave excellent single track, albeit diluted to taste by a fair ammount of heavy rain, as you can see by the rather full stream crossings endured by us!

55 kilometres of rocky toil gave a remote and varied expedition which could be broken into two days, stopping at the bothy at Camasunary. The single-track down Glen Sligachan is exceptional fun – wet or dry, and the situations with the Black Cullin and Blaven bearing down on you are spectacular.

Hotting up for Winter

Mountaineering  Ice Climbing

Things always seem to quieten down a bit around October and November, but there’s still plenty to do out and about. Andrew’s been out biking in Skye and with the great weather recently it’s still perfectly feasible to get out and about rock-climbing and scrambling

Snowhole

We’re putting together a full winter programme for 2008, so watch this space – in the meantime, I’ve uploaded some winter pictures from 2007 and 2006 to remind us about how good the Scottish Winter can be!

Feel free to email any enquires to info@mountainactive.co.uk, or contact us.
