Cairngorm Granite Fest

Productive weekend in the Northern Cairngorms climbing a variety of routes – Savage Slit on Saturday gave a challenge in wet conditions (see – short film clip here)  the rock is so clean and grippy that it hardly made a change to the grade.

An evening’s cragging at a dry Huntly’s Cave crag followed by a fantastic, dry day on Stac an Fharaidh on Sunday rounded off a weekend of climbing on (mostly) dry rock.

With Glenn in the Glen

Glenn on the Mappie

A dry Glencoe let Glenn and I bag some quality mountain Very Severes – the Mappie on Gearr Aonach gave a steep, exposed route – but we were chased off by midgies.

A classic Buchaille Etive Mor experience the next day – Rock Climb and Hangover gave two quality routes on the secluded central buttress. Cold winds kept the midgies away. It’s supposed to be August!

Derek on a damp cobbler

Derek and I had a very wet expereince on the Cobbler – thrutching up a wet Recess Route – felt more like caving than climbing!
