Daughter of the Big Three

On the summit of Ben Nevis

Congratualtions to the “Daughter of the Big Three” team on reaching the top of Ben Nevis yesterday – we had a damp day, but spirits were high! They’re off to climb Scafell Thursday and Snowdon Aaturday – and generating over £10,000 for cancer charities.

Good luck everyone!

Summer arrives

Filed under: General post — davy @ 11:53 am

Excellent weekend of weather down in the Lakes. I was on a first-aid “Outdoor Incident Management” course with Vital Signs run by Nick Green. Interesting course with plenty of scenarios.

Popped out to Shepard’s Crag on saturday evening and soloed a couple of easy routes on a lovely summer’s evening.

Randomly bumped into Tracy and Keith at the Lakeside Theatre in Keswick and sent them off to Quayfoot buttress – Keith led the classic Vdiff of the crag – Quayfoot buttress - they report a lovely routes and a top afternoon!

Finger Ridge?

Tracy on Fingers Ridge

(Tracy on the Fingers)

A mostly dry weekend – Tracy, Peter, Keith and myself went up to the Northern Cairngorms to avoid the rain. We climbed a blusterey Fingers Ridge on Saturday, looking at anchors and runner placements. We all thought that one of the Fingers looks like it might not last that long – ceratinly more loose blocks that I remember from last time I climbed it! On the way down we practiced abseiling off a multi-pitch route.

The weather turned dark and wet on sunday, so we headed south and had a good day on Polney crag above Dunkeld – only one short shower in the mid-afternoon. We climbed Kestral Crack and – again looking at belays, anchors and runners. Keith got the short straw and led a greasey  Anon (never a diff!).
