A fine day on Boomerang Arete. #scotwinter
After much deliberation, I decided to avoid Ben Nevis and the epic cornices and Mike and I headed to Stob Coire nan Lochan in Glencoe
It was a stunning, crisp morning but warm in sun. There were large cornices above the twisting gully area and we were surprised to see climbers heading up Twisting Gully.
Our first plan was Raeburn’s route, but the sun had been on it all morning and the initial ramp seemed very bare, so the decision was made to head to Boomerang Arete and seek out some good ground.
This proved to be an excellent choice – superb ice and snow – although a lot of the route was banked out from my memory of when I did it years ago.
On the summit the cloud rolled in a wee bit, but we were treated to some Broken Spectres and fine view.
There were two parties from PYB on MIC assessments enjoying the fine weather and views
